Princeton boys golf coach Bruce Bagley said this season he returns five seniors and a junior who all played last year for him.
Bagley's hoping that experience can help the Vikings move up the ranks in the Greater Miami Conference.
"On varsity we've got kids who've been through the program," said Bagley, now in his fifth season. "Most are baseball players, which I always mostly have, two of them who gave up baseball to concentrate on golf."
The Vikings will be led by seniors Cole Martin, the team captain, Jared Foster, Zac Holmes, Michael Cripe and Jason Schneider. Bagley said Martin was his team's second-leading scorer last season, and Foster's a "good little left-hander" who competes in a lot of off-season junior tournaments. And junior Grant Lohmeier has shown some promise on the heels of a nice baseball season.
"The nice thing is they've been through our program for four years," said Bagley. "They know what to expect. When they first came to us they were playing baseball and no golf in the summer. Now they're playing golf in the summer and going to golf camps - that's the kind of experience you need to play in high school."
Princeton opens Aug. 22 against Northwest at Glenview.
